Let's talk Goal-setting!
We're headed right into another year! Can you believe that 2020 is just a couple days away?! 🤯 Where did the time go?! ⌚
You shouldn't be stressing on lost time...instead you should be focusing on outlining the goals that you want to achieve for your business next year! 🎉'
Whether it's to grow your clientele by 5% within the 1st quarter 📈 or sell 50% more stock by January's end 💵, you need to be specific and conscious about the goals you want to meet and surpass for the coming year! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why are you waiting until January 1st to set goals for 2020?! ⠀⠀
If you're waiting to set goals, whether personal or for your business, there's no magical feeling that will come to you to set them - especially if you tend to procrastinate .
Here are some things you should do to make sure you set those 2020 goals ✍🏾: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. Find a quiet space: It's the holidays, I know 🎄 It's my favourite time actually and I know how busy and noisy it is this time around. When everyone's out holiday shopping and you've finished the list that your mum left, you know, seasoning the chicken and so on 👀, you can jot down your goals. You probably were going to watch a movie after anyway, so why not? 🤷🏾♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. Get paper & a pen : I mean this is basic but don't cave in to the pressures of social media to purchase a fancy planner or journal to write your goals in. Develop the mindset that wherever I write my goals down it takes the same amount of effort to achieve them as if they were in a fancy planner. 📝
3. Set categories and start visualizing: Sometimes when setting goals we tend to be all over the place. But when you put your goals in categories it makes it a bit easier. So you want to maybe think about your career goals separately from your family goals. Granted that all your goals may be connected directly or indirectly it's clearer when you set them apart. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When creating those categories you should then ask yourself: Where do I see myself going in my career next year? Do this for each category. This will help you to visualize and begin the process of manifestation.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here are some things you need to consider when setting your 2020 goals for your business:
Benchmarking competitively & internally: It's like getting a check-up from the doctor. You want to see what's up on the outside (competitors) but you also want to take a CT scan of your business to see if you're healthy on the inside.
Assess your 2019 targets, achievements & failures. It'll assist in setting your 2020 goals.
Your goals should be SMART, yes. But are they real?! After you apply the famous acronym Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-based to your goals, make sure that they're really something you could accomplish no matter what it takes to get there!
Think about the resources or plan of action you'll need to achieve those goals e.g.) rebudgeting to accommodate a new system.
Consider what you can reward yourself, your business and your employees with when you hit your targets for 2020. Write it down. You always need motivation you're goal-setting & in the process of achieving them!
Some of my goals for this blog is to host some networking events and launch some products in 2020!
