The Thing You're Afraid to Do but Should Be Doing!

I recently participated in an Instagram challenge. Each day, I got a prompt of what I should be doing on my Instagram to get the most engagement from my followers. It mostly involved the use of IG Stories and of course there would be a day that I had to go live! I was nervous as hell! BUT that was not the most nail-biting thing I had to do! The last day of the challenge, I had to DM some of my followers!

Some of them I had never interacted with before, so naturally I thought that randomly popping up in their DM would be weird and awkward! But listen, I got the opposite reaction! I chose an appropriate time  (New Year's Day) and I sent them personal messages. There was a lot of cut and pasting, but I wanted each message to be personal. So, I added each follower's name and added a few details - especially if I had been interacting with them for a while- and I thanked them for following me, interacting with my stories/posts and told them to look forward to more content this year!

The New Year is a perfect time to message your following because:

a. You probably forgot to even wish them 'Happy Holidays' since you were caught up enjoying the season - I know that around Christmas time is one of the most busiest times of the year. So, naturally you could be caught  up gift shopping, hanging with family or even selling your products at neighbourhood markets. In case you didn't have the time to message your following during the season, the start of the New Year is perfect to do so.

b. It's one of the happiest times of the year.- Clients are already in euphoria celebrating such a joyous occasion. Imagine the added joy they would feel when you send them a genuine, personal message.

c. It's the best time to thank your following for their support, encourage them to crush their goals and offer them a new deal, discount or New Year gift!

I did this for one of my platforms and the result was so overwhelming! I promise you it will work- especially for building connections or possibly bagging a client or two *wink wink*!

So I binged-watched the hit series, Emily in Paris in one night. It was that entertaining. I loved the 'Ugly Betty' undertones, the relatability of the character Emily and the humour that the language barriers brought about! The fashion! The food!
